If you own a small acreage, farm or are located in a rural subdivision and require power, the following information will help guide you through the steps to complete your new electricity service.
Drafting of a farm or yard site plan is key to establishing the power line route. Take into consideration current and future requirements;
• House location and other out-buildings
• Future yard expansions
• Electrical requirements for your farm
• Power line route
• Transformer size
• Brushing and easement requirements
• Do you require overhead or underground wiring
Contact us to set up an appointment to visit your location. We will review your site plan with you, proposed power line route, location and size of the transformer pole that may be required. Please be prepared to provide us with the following;
• Legal Land Description
• Mailing Address
• Phone number
After the site visit, an estimate will be drawn up and mailed, faxed or emailed to the land owner for approval.
Once the estimate is accepted and the fees outlined in the estimate are accepted and paid, an Electrical Service Contract will be drawn up. Upon signing of the Contract, NPP will order the necessary surveys & materials, and schedule a date for the construction of the new service.
In order for your new service to be connected, an electrical wiring permit will be required for the installation. The standard period of time for installation is usually 6 to 8 weeks from the time the Contract is signed.
Our technicians and support staff value our Members, and are there to assist you with any questions you may have throughout the process.
Every Member, new or existing is required to read through and sign North Parkland Power Terms and Conditions. This document outlines the terms and conditions for service to the REA Member with North Parkland Power REA Ltd. At this time, North Parkland Power is the primary energy supplier in our area.
A valid Terms and Conditions Acknowledgment form must be signed and a ‘Utility Right-of-Way’ (ROW) registered in order to comply with the Provincial Regulatory process to avoid any liability issues associated with the supply, distribution and delivery of electrical services in Alberta. The significance of the right-of-way is if an emergency occurs that affects equipment on your property, it permits our linesman and equipment to gain immediate access to the property.
North Parkland Power REA offers the following services to both REA members and non-REA members.
• Trenching, Brushing
• Overhead Power to Underground Power
• Low Voltage Cable Installs
• Hydro Vac, Directional Drilling

This can create an unsafe environment should the technicians need to scale the pole in an emergency.
